Each market has a specific set of market information that you need to understand before trading a particular instrument.
In this tutorial, we’re going to look at the market information button in a bit more detail.
Important market-specific information can be viewed by clicking on the ‘i’ icon to the right of the market. You’ll notice that this brings up an information window on the bottom half of your platform. From here we can view individual market trading hours as well as any trading breaks it may have. So if we select the Wall Street 30, we can see that it trades 24 hours with breaks between 9.15 and 9.30, and again, between 10 and 11.
We can also view the market spread and the deposit multiple or margin required to open a trade, which in this case is 0.5% which equates to approximately 120 pounds on a pound of point position, based on the current market price. Although it is important to note that spread a margin requirements are indicative and may vary according to trade size and market.
We can also view the minimum guaranteed stop distance of 1% in this case and the date of market expiry which is important if we were looking at futures contract. So that’s how we find key information on specific markets were in the trading platform.
We look forward to seeing you in the next tutorial.
